Why does it even matter?
Confidence is the stepping stone for doing anything in life, it takes a certain level of confidence to start that business, go to the gym, or try to change your mindset. Confidence is knowing you aren’t perfect and won’t do everything right the first time but still believing in yourself enough to try new things no matter the outcome.
Your lack of confidence will make you constantly question yourself and tend to stay in the same patterns because it thinks you're not ready for change. It will make it hard to make tough decisions for yourself so you will constantly need to go to others for approval and acceptance.
How to build confidence
Every morning make a list of a few things you want to do that day, it can be little things such as washing the dishes or calling your grandma. At the end of the day make a tally of how many of the things you actually completed to start building up a resume for yourself that you will do the things that you say you will do
Wait to make big decisions. It can be so easy for us to make decisions such as telling someone how they are making us feel or deciding to move during heated or heightened emotions but you should wait. Wait until you feel balanced to make big decisions so you can trust that you are thinking straight and can rely on yourself to always make the best decisions for you.
Surround yourself with things that bring you confidence, this means people, environments, and on social media. You should refrain from being around people who always make you question yourself or tend to bring you down whether they do it on purpose or not. You should try to go to restaurants, shopping centers, and just neighborhoods that you think would inspire you (I sometimes go to rich neighborhoods just to see the houses). While also making sure you’re not surrounding yourself on social media with people who make you feel like you aren’t enough, make a spam page to ONLY follow people who inspire and motivate you!
Speak to yourself like someone you love! We are often really hard on ourselves and talk ourselves out of doing things because we feel we aren’t enough. I challenge you to talk to yourself like you were talking to a younger sibling, a friend, or a partner. You wouldn't bring them down and tell them they couldn't do things, you would encourage them and not call them ugly names and constantly criticize them.
